George Wilson (July 7, 1816 – February 5, 1902), served as Mayor of Pittsburgh from 1860 to 1862.
Wilson was born in Baltimore. He worked in a Tobacco plant and eventually went into business for himself. Wilson served as a City Councilman and as the Director of the Public School System. In addition, he was also an attorney.
As Mayor, Wilson introduced President elect Abraham Lincoln from the balcony of the Monongahela House on a rain-soaked day in February 1861.
He died on February 5, 1902 of pneumonia and is buried in Homewood Cemetery.
